Apart from entertaining his fans with his acting talents, he is also a businessman who has invested in a lot of tech companies like Spotify, Airbnb, Fab, Dwolla, and Uber. If his contributions to the world of entertainment and technology aren't enough to make for an impressive resume, the amazing work he has done to fight human trafficking definitely does the trick.

According to PEOPLE, Kutcher's non-profit organization 'Thorn: Digital Defenders of Children', has helped law enforcement identify a total of 5,894 child sex trafficking victims in the last five years. The organization, which was co-founded by the No Strings Attached star's ex-wife Demi Moore, has also assisted in the rescue of 103 children from "situations where their sexual abuse was recorded and distributed." The impressive figures were revealed by the organization's own 2017 impact report which explores the positive impacts the non-profit has had.

By building technology that helps defend children from sexual abuse, 'Thorn: Digital Defenders of Children' has been an invaluable asset in the fight against child sex trafficking. It is also responsible for the creation of a Technology Task Force, which is a group of over 25 tech companies — including Google, Facebook, and Microsoft — that develops software to combat the sexual exploitation of minors. The organization's report also claims that it has helped disrupt 6,608 perpetrators and encouraged more than 140,000 individuals seeking child sexual abuse material to ask for help, as well as, educate 3.5 million teens about sextortion through its Stop Sextortion campaign.

Previously known as DNA Foundation, Kutcher founded the organization back in 2009 with Moore with the aim of preventing the sexual exploitation of children. Speaking to CBS News' 48 Hours about his advocacy work in March this year, the actor said, "I have a hard time talking about this issue without being emotional. What we do at our core is we build technology to help fight sexual exploitation of children. You can roll up your sleeves and go try to be like a hero and go save one person, or you can build a tool that allows one person to save a lot of people."

The Guess Who star also gave a 15-minute speech on modern-day slavery in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in February 2017, where he attempted to compel Congress to take measures to put an end to the unspeakable horrors faced by women and children around the globe. "I'm here today to defend the right to pursue happiness. It's a simple notion: 'the right to pursue happiness,'" began Kutcher's moving testimony. The celeb continued, "It's bestowed upon all of us by our constitution. Every citizen of this country has the right to pursue it."

"And I believe that it is incumbent on us as citizens of this nation, as Americans, to bestow that right upon others, upon each other, and upon the rest of the world. But the right to pursue happiness for so many is stripped away — it's raped, it's abused, it's taken by force, fraud, or coercion. It is sold for the momentary happiness of another," said Kutcher. The father-of-two also spoke about the criticism he has faced from those who tell him to "stick to [his] day job." Responding to such naysayers, the star said that his work with 'Thorn: Digital Defenders of Children' is his day job.

Ashton Kutcher's nonprofit to scale its fight against child abuse on the internet

Ashton Kutcher's organization devoted to protecting children from exploitation is getting a funding boost to help fuel its efforts to eradicate child sexual abuse materials from the internet.

Kutcher also recounted a harrowing story about seeing a child, who was the same age as his 3-year-old daughter, being raped by an adult man. "I've seen video content of a child that’s the same age as mine being raped by an American man who was a sex tourist in Cambodia, and this child was so conditioned by her environment that she thought she was engaging in play," the actor revealed.

He added, "I've been on the other end of a phone call from my team, asking for my help because we had received a call from the Department of Homeland Security, telling us that a 7-year-old girl was being sexually abused and that content was being spread around the dark web and she had been being abused and they'd watched her for three years, and they could not find the perpetrator, asking us for help. We were the last line of defense—an actor and his foundation were the potential last line of defense. That's my day job, and I’m sticking to it."
