We live in a world filled with grief and sadness, and some people are in desperate need of support and love.

Aurora “Rori” Shane spent her life in hospitals. The baby was born with a congenital heart defect that threatened her life.

Rori’s mom, Jennifer, shared the story on social networks, hoping to get some help for her baby girl. Rori needed a heart transplant, and they couldn’t find an organ that was small enough to fit in her tiny body. Finding a matching donor is hard for adults, too.
As noted on the Hope for Rori Facebook page, Rori’s chances of survival were really low. Her body was really small, and she didn’t get many offers. Donors had to have the right blood type (A+) and weight (20-50 pounds).

Jennifer heard the story of Susie Rabaca, a mother diagnosed with cancer who was also pregnant with twins. She found a bone-marrow donor after her story was shared on social media. That’s how Jennifer realized that she has to share her story.

They spent two years in hospitals. Rori had to get a heart.

Rori had been on a heart transplant waiting list for 200 days in the Norton Childrens Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, since December 1st, 2018. There was also a GoFundMe page to help the family cover their bills.

Praying for a miracle was the only thing they could do. On December 13th, 2018, Jennifer updated her Facebook status, and they found a match.

Today, people are well aware of the power of social media. Jennifer would never give up, and her efforts were enough to save Rori’s girl. She was a real hero, and her story will help us remember that life is a struggle.

We sent our thoughts and prayers to Jennifer and Rori, and pretty much everyone that needs help in this situation.
